No woman, no cry

The ANC Women’s League defended its decision not to support Lindiwe Sisulu shortly after Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, the league’s preferred candidate, lost to Cyril Ramaphosa in December. League president Bathabile Dlamini said: “An unfair question is coming out . . . why didn’t we support comrade Lindiwe? We don’t want to talk about the fact that . . . we have had women standing for president, so that is a non-issue, the issue is to try to push us into a corner . . .”
