VEGANISM ON THE RISE

Vegans reject all forms of animal exploitati­on and don’t consume products of animal origin, including dairy and eggs. With the growing number of vegans, there has been an increase in vegan restaurant­s and vegan dishes on menus.

Col’Cacchio, known for its thin-base wood-fired pizzas, has developed a range of vegan pizza offerings. I liked the sound of a “spiroco”, a lettuce, beetroot, carrot, sesame and pumpkin seed, lentil, avo and coconut flake pizza, and the “amitose” for dessert — a cashew cream, caramel pineapple, orangeflav­oured crumble and coconut shavings.
