Turning point for NPA
With luck, Wednesday’s Constitutional Court hearing on Shaun Abrahams’s fate as national director of public prosecutions will signal the beginning of the end for the NPA’s precipitous decline under former president Jacob Zuma.
President Cyril Ramaphosa cannot replace Abrahams until the court rules on Zuma’s decision to give Mxolisi Nxasana a R17-million handshake before appointing Abrahams. On Friday, Ramaphosa withdrew Zuma’s appeal against a high court ruling that Abrahams should vacate his position.
