IT’S FREE AND FAIR
Taste, we all know is a subjective thing, and for a professional opinion we turned to Professor Gerrie du Rand of the Department of Consumer and Food Sciences at the University of Pretoria and the final-year students for a blind tasting of the products. Using the facilities at the department the products were unwrapped, numbered and where required prepared exactly to package instructions. The students were divided into five groups of six people each who rated the product in a blind tasting according to appearance, aroma, taste, texture and whether they would consider buying it. What is interesting is that there is always a clear winner in each category and the comments reflect similar sentiments.
