SLEEP IN A BEETLE
I slept in my old Beetle once, by the Vaal River. It was cramped and awful. But that won’t be a problem for guests at Mohammed Al Malaheem’s “hotel“— a repurposed ’70s VW Beetle in the village of Al Jaya in Jordan, as the seats have been removed and the car can sleep two, comfortably. The owner claims this is the world’s smallest hotel (although the 2.5m-wide Eh’häusl Hotel in Amberg, Germany, may disagree). Rates from 40 Jordanian dinars per night (about R700), full board — meals are served in a cave house over the road.) No website — look for the Montreal crusader castle nearby.
