It is public knowledge that Ace Magashule ran the Free State as his own spaza shop when he was premier. Legend has it that the new CEO of Luthuli House had the last say in every decision, including the appointment of cleaners in small municipalities. It is reported that he spent R20-million on his farewell party on Wednesday, when guests were served two rolls and a piece of a drumstick. This obscene expenditure was condemned by all. Even our new No 2 David Mabuza, who himself threw a party after he recovered from illness to announce “the Cat is back”, thought Magashule’s behaviour was bad.
