THE RETURN OF THE RITZ
Home editor Leana Schoeman gets snazzy with a Cape icon
After a multimillion-rand rejuvenation, The Ritz in Sea Point, Cape Town, has reopened its doors. The iconic landmark has graced the city’s skyline since the early ’70s and recently the Ritz Hotel Management Company took the opportunity to refurbish the existing 23-storey structure, transforming it into a contemporary urban resort. The new-look rooms are luxurious and spacious, with contemporary fittings and user-friendly design complemented by panoramic views that allow for some of the best outlooks the city has to offer.
The hotel’s extensive restaurant and bar offerings are fast gaining momentum as some of Cape Town’s culinary hot spots. One of the main attractions is Top of the Ritz, the city’s only revolving restaurant, with its elegant and opulent interiors that offer 360-degree rotating views to diners. Guests can take a “Journey of flavours through Cape Town” with a sevencourse fine-dining experience, created by executive chef Adrian Cook.
One floor down is the Dom Perignon Champagne lounge, set in a seductively plush space that makes for perfect predinner drinks or sundowners. Another floor down is the Hennessy Cigar lounge, with its dazzling view of the city lights creating a perfect setting for after-dinner digestives and late-night drinks.
For a more casual experience, CASA restaurant & Cabanas offers all-day dining in a relaxed indoor space displaying Martinique palm leaf wallpaper and interior accents that create a retro Miami look and feel. There is also a sunny pool deck where visitors can relax and enjoy the facilities. With such an incredible and extensive offering, this is the perfect spot to enjoy the last days of summer and many summers to come.
