De Lille’s fight to clear her name

Embattled Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille has blocked the DA from firing her, at least for now. The DA federal executive was forced to suspend a scheduled discussion on her future at its meeting yesterday after she served it with legal papers indicating that she intended to mount a court challenge against moves to oust her as mayor. DA spokeswoman Natasha Mazzone said: “We have suspended discussions pending legal advice. The federal executive will resume discussions early next week”
