STRANGE but TRUE
Throughout the Chelsea Flower Show’s more than 100-year history, garden gnomes have been banned from inclusion in the displays. One frequent exhibitor, Jekka McVicar, often hid a gnome in her designs — but got into trouble when the judges saw it. The ban was temporarily lifted in 2013, for the show’s centenary, when 150 gnomes were put on “parade” to greet the Queen.
