MEAT AND EAT

This is one for the books, and not to be missed: a festival that celebrates South Africans’ favourite protein, meat. The Fire & Feast Meat Festival takes place next weekend at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg where the heroes are beef, lamb, pork — even chicken. Some of South Africa’s top chefs will be sharing skills and techniques and butchers will go head-to-head in the National Butchers’ Challenge. You will be able to learn more about meat, sample topquality cuts, and for those wanting to brush up on their braai skills step into the Braaitology area where chefs will prepare and cook a variety of meats — and share valuable tips. What better way to savour a braai than with a drink? Pop into the craft beer and gin bars, head to the wine-tasting area or partake in a braai meat and wine pairing session.
