SUNDAY LUNCH

My fantasy Sunday lunch:

Would be at our farm in the Natal Midlands, Nottingham Road. With the beautiful views of the berg, it is one of the most tranquil places for a Sunday lunch.

Guests I would invite:

Queen Elizabeth. I have lots of questions I’d like to ask her and I’m sure she has plenty of stories to tell. Nigella Lawson. She is one of my favourite chefs. No event centred around women would be complete without Maya Angelou; she is one of the most influential women of our time. I would also include my two grandmothers. They were always the life of the party and had the best stories.

What we’d talk about:

We would talk about all things food, style, fashion, the latest trends. Anything but politics!

Who else would be there?

My mother and my husband, Adrian, and our four boys: Murray, Jack, Ross and Charlie. As time is precious I treasure every moment with them. Breaking bread is the perfect way to start a meal. It would be the soft sourdough bread from By Word of Mouth’s new Frozen For You concept. It’s best served warm, drizzled with the most delectable olive oil.

On the menu will be:

Our roasted tomato soup and melanzane accompanied by tapas, including parma ham, olives, artichokes, fresh falafel and a big piece of parmesan cheese.

And the drinks?

Clemengold gin served with lots of ice, slices of grapefruit, lemon and oranges, finished off with a sprig of mint. I would never say no to a cold glass of a wooded Meerlust Chardonnay.

Sweet endings?

We have launched a citrus white chocolate croissant bread and butter pudding which is just the perfect end on a chilly day.

Who would do the washing up?

Defy and Whirlpool. I have installed two dishwashers at the farm.
