Hurdling over handicap
The fastest organ-transplant recipient in the world is American Aries Merritt. The 110m hurdler won the Olympic gold medal in 2012, and his 12.80sec world record from that year still stands. He was third at the 2015 world championships, just before he had a kidney transplant. Merritt was back at the world championships in 2017, finishing fifth. His best time since the surgery is 13.09sec, which is one of the better times of his career
