Fewer places to fume in France’s first city

-

Paris authorities are planning to ban smoking in public parks in the latest effort to cure the French smoking habit.

A trial ban is being imposed in four parks, and the mayor plans to extend it to all parks within months.

The fine for throwing a cigarette end on the ground will be à68 (about R1 000), and à450 for smoking in public areas where this is banned.
