Xoliswa Ndoyiya
Ndoyiya worked for Mandela as his personal chef at his home in Johannesburg from 1992 until he died in 2013
I remember if I didn’t give him this traditional food for a few days he would say to me, “What’s wrong? Why are you not feeding me well?” I remember how much Madiba liked pepper with his food. When he asked for “a bit of pepper”, what he really meant was “a lot of pepper”.
He liked a very generous shake of the pepper pot to make his throat glow.
