CARAVANS THAT PASS IN THE NIGHT

-

If you’ve secretly wanted to go holidaying in a caravan but didn’t much dig the reality of vast campsites, braai smoke and towing the equivalent of a huge windbreak behind your car, then the Huettenpalast in Berlin may be the answer. The actual hotel is spread among two former factory buildings, inside of which are parked eight beautifully restored caravans, a couple of cabins and loft-style hotel rooms — the latter with en suite bathrooms. You get two roofs for the price of one. There are two spotless communal bathrooms — this is Germany, after all — and communal living areas as well as a café where breakfast is served.

The interiors of both the caravans and the warehouses are clean, simple and bright.
