Designer Kirsten Townsend of Fabrica recently released “Unmasked”— a project inspired by the visual language of African masks. Kirsten, who trained as a graphic designer, has reinterpreted the ancient art form with a minimalist and graphic approach. The project includes two ranges: Unmasked Rugs and Unmasked Casts. The rugs are 100% hand-woven wool and the casts, which bring the two-dimensional surface design of the rugs into a three-dimensional form, are hand moulded and cast in resin. There are three designs of each and only 15 of each product is available, making them covetable and collectable.
