The GTC Medical Aid Survey identifies some interesting trends in medical scheme benefits that may be worth checking for on your own option:

● 204 plans offer benefits for maternity consultations and many are paid for from the risk benefits rather than your medical savings account; ● 55 plans offer antenatal classes;

● 211 plans pay for maternity scans;

● 84 plans pay for contraceptives;

● 129 plans offer international travel benefits;

● 95 plans cover additional GP visits within a GP network when you have exhausted your day-to-day benefits; and ● 182 plans offer flu vaccinations.
