EAT WELL AT THE FERRY BUILDING

- ferrybuildingmarketplace.com.

The Ferry Building in the Embarcadero is where ships from the east used to arrive, so it’s a kind of west coast Ellis Island. These days it’s a spread of food stalls and restaurants. It’s home to all kinds of artisanal producers — this is the heart of clean-green-and-organic California, after all — and hosts a farmers’ market three times week. If you’re a forager like me, it’s the best place to graze.
