RIDE A HISTORIC STREETCAR TO THE CASTRO

- streetcar.org. cruisinthecastro.com.

San Francisco’s cute little cable cars that clank up and down the city’s epic hills get so much love that it’s almost impossible to ride them. Even the locals have given up jostling with the tourists. Much better: take a ride on the classic restored PCC streetcars that operate on the “F” and “E” lines. The “F” line runs from Fisherman’s Wharf, then strikes out south near the Ferry Building and coasts along to the vibrant Castro district, the historic epicentre for gay activism in America. The district has some of the best bars, restaurants and clubs in the city, which you can explore on a walking tour with Cruisin’ the Castro.
