Annuscha Pillay has been appointed a partner in the corporate/mergers and acquisitions practice of Baker McKenzie Johannesburg.
She specialises in corporate and commercial law focusing on commercial mergers and acquisitions, black economic empowerment transactions, corporate finance, mining and cross-border transactions. Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed Candice Gibson senior associate in Johannesburg.
Gibson is a regulatory lawyer across the mining and industrial sectors, and has experience in environmental and health and safety law.
She has a master’s degree in tax from the University of Pretoria. Maria Teresa Amodio has been promoted to COO of franchise restaurant chain Mike’s Kitchen. She joined Mike’s in 2006 and has held the position of national operations and operations director since.

Nwabisa Makunga has been appointed editor of Tiso Blackstar Group’s The Herald and Weekend Post. She has held several positions in the group, including Business Day news editor and The Herald’s business and politics editor. She graduated from Nelson Mandela University and has a postgraduate qualification in media management from Wits.
