Zimbabwe on tenterhooks
It never rains but pours for Zimbabwe. The military involvement in the 2017 coup and the post-election violence that claimed several lives have reignited the fear that we thought had gone with Robert Mugabe. The outcome of the much-awaited presidential election appeal will be a true measure of whether the judicial system has divorced itself from the corruption that Mugabe cultivated.
As for Emmerson Mnangagwa, there is a lack of clear and cogent evidence that the government has fundamentally changed the political environment.
The international community should reject any miscarriage of justice from the court.
