Dragon ships built for speed

Viking longships emerged in Scandinavi­a 1,000 years ago as long, narrow, double-ended wooden boats with a shallow draught, built for speed. They had between 13 and 34 rowing positions and a rectangula­r sail on a single mast. They were mostly used as troop transports rather than warships, and were sometimes called dragon ships because of their dragon-shaped prow — Source: Wikipedia
