GET THE LOOK

Colour draping, halo or geisha blush; whatever you choose to call it; this season isn’t complete without a sheer veil of colour cascading down the temples for an ethereal, lit-from-within glow

The Trend

The new blush, as seen at Valentino, Kenzo and Nina Ricci, borrows from two styles to strike the perfect balance between obscure and demure. The trend combines both the ‘80s disco style of applying an array of unblended bright blushes from eyes to cheeks and Korean K-pop makeup, that is famous for delicately flushed cheeks and partially stained lollipop lips, to create a look that is both soft and punchy.

The Face

The key to taking this look from theatrical to wearable is to practice refinement. The overall skin coverage should be kept fresh and luminous by applying a liquid highlighter underneath lightweight foundation. Be careful not to sculpt or define the facial features too much as the appeal of this look lies in all features being muted completely to the background to create the illusion of softness around the curvatures of the face.

How To

Choose a blush or eyeshadow shade that has a natural colour pay-off on your skin tone but ensure that you blend it almost into invisibility to create that polished layer of colour.

Pale skin tones can use pink blush shades such as light candy pinks or rosebud pink while olive to darker skin tones can experiment with warm pink corals, dusty pinks or even purple blush that translates pink on a darker skin tone.

Use a blush in a powder formula if you want to achieve a more saturated colour pay-off against the skin or a cream formula for a more dewy, sheer finish.

Focus the blush from the brow bone, down the temples to just above the cheek hollow, steering away from applying colour on the apples of the cheeks.

Use an eyeshadow in a similar shade to add colour to the eyelids, creating a halo of colour.
