Oxford’s African Studies Centre has appointed Pick n Pay chair Gareth Ackerman to its internatio­nal advisory board, to be chaired by former Reserve Bank governor and labour minister Tito Mboweni.

The board will help with policy, including developing potential fellowship­s and grants to enable Africans to study at Oxford. Tebalo Tsoaeli has been appointed chief informatio­n officer of Glacier by Sanlam.

He has experience in the stockbroki­ng, capital markets and investment management industries, including the implementa­tion of key strategic projects, and holds a BSc in computer science, a BSc honours in computer science and an MBA. Wealth management company Stonehage Fleming has appointed Bryn Hatty chief investment officer and Carolyn Levin a director in the South African investment management division.

Hatty has 22 years of financial market experience, with the last 12 in investment management. He joins the company from Old Mutual customised solutions, where he was responsibl­e for the portfolio management of the premium equity fund and a suite of three derivative-based hedge funds.

Levin has 18 years’ financial markets experience, 12 of which were in asset management specifical­ly. She joins Stonehage Fleming from Foord Asset Management.
