Vending influence in Venda

Florence Radzilani — you don’t know her, and neither did Hogarth until she surfaced in the report on that bank in Venda. She’s the deputy chair of the ANC in Limpopo and doubles as the mayor of the Vhembe district municipality. See where we are going with this?

It turns out Radzilani likes Christmas quite a lot. According to advocate Terry Motau’s report, she asked for a “Christmas” in return for not withdrawing the R300m the municipality had invested. “We gave her 300k and she cried [complained] and said we gave juniors R1.5m and we give her 300k,” read a WhatsApp from a fellow looter.

The mayor deserves a holiday, maybe somewhere where the dress code is strictly orange.
