TRAVEL
In this week’s episode of the Sunday Times Travel podcast, we head for the battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal. At a community-run hotel called Isandlwana Lodge, I met and interviewed a battlefield guide whose great-grandfather took part in the battle in which a Zulu army routed the British Empire in a short, sharp and bloody contact on January 22 1879. An Irish doctor was also at the lodge on the same day and brought another perspective to that tumultuous event.
