ODE TO VERTIGO

-

The Hotel Vertigo in San Francisco — named in honour of Alfred Hitchcock’s famous 1958 film — has the movie playing on a continuous loop in its lobby. In the movie, it was called the Empire Hotel and it’s where heroine Judy, played by Kim Novak, lived. The iconic fire escape still zigzags up the front of the building and some of the rooms have been named after characters in the film. The Telegraph says the two most requested rooms are 401 — where Novak is briefly seen in the window — and 402, where other scenes were filmed.

The hotel itself is part of a walking tour called “Hitchcock’s San Francisco“, which visits many places the director used in his films.
