Professor Basie von Solms, the director of the Centre for Cyber Security at the University of Johannesburg, has been invited by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to join its Global Future Council on Cybersecurity.
The council is the newest of the WEF’s Global Future Councils covering 38 topic areas committed to reshaping global systems. It is an invitation-only community consisting of 19 leading international cybersecurity experts. Power management company Eaton has appointed Boitumelo Moselane human resources director for Eaton SA.
Moselane has more than 20 years’ experience in the field. She has a BA in industrial psychology and an honours degree in labour relations, and has completed management development programmes.
“Skills development, inclusion and diversity are the cornerstones of the Eaton business philosophy,” she says. “I look forward to contributing to these, as well as Eaton’s continuous transformation journey.” Uvesh Betchu has joined asset manager 10X Investments as COO after an 11-year career at Capitec Bank.
Betchu has a BCom in management and marketing and a master’s in business leadership. Before Capitec, he worked at Nedbank, PSG and FinBond.
10X CEO Steven Nathan said Betchu had been with Capitec “through a period of tremendous growth and led a number of initiatives to help them scale, improve efficiency and build a customer-centric business. Uvesh is highly aligned to 10X’s vision, with strong operations and leadership skills.” Bearings International has appointed Shaun Combrinck product manager for its FAG, KOYO, INA, and FSQ bearing ranges.
Combrinck has more than 14 years’ industry experience. He will oversee administration, provide training, and ensure distribution channels are streamlined for faster turnaround.
“The key to our growth and expansion is to maintain sufficient stock levels, and to negotiate contracts with our customers on an ongoing basis to ensure that these are mutually beneficial,” Combrinck said.
