Get and benefit from a holiday job

-

● The festive period with its seasonal jobs offers recent graduates and matriculants and others keen to beef up their CVs an opportunity to get some experience.

Nritika Singh, the MD of recruitment firm Isilumko Staffing & Activate, says: “Young people, no matter what level of education they have reached, are able to earn money if they are prepared to give up some of their holiday time. Seasonal jobs, particularly over the December/January period, provide plenty of part-time job opportunities.”

She says that the retail, warehousing, tourism and call-centre industries are usually especially busy during this time, so often need temporary workers to help.

She has the following advice:

● Holiday jobs are a great way to get work experience and help you decide what career you might want to pursue.

● Approach a recruitment agency that deals with temporary work to help you find a suitable job.

● Before approaching an agency, spend some time working on your CV. “Bring copies of any certificates, identity documents, letters of recommendation or other material to the interview, as it will assist the recruitment process,” says Singh.
