DRIFT TO SLEEP

-

The private Conrad Maldives Rangali Island just opened what it calls the world’s first underwater hotel, a spectacular experience that’s not surprisingly reserved for those with pockets as deep as the hotel’s bedroom.

It’s called The Muraka, which means “coral” in the native Dhivehi, and a booking gets you the entire villa, with floors above and below the water line.

Up top there is a luxurious living area and deck. Down below, there is a glass-encased bathroom and bedroom, where you will sleep surrounded by whatever sea life happens to drift by.

The villa also comes with 24-hour butler service, a private chef, and a speed boat. The cost though, will surely make you gasp: $50,000 per night. conradmaldives.com.
