A hot hunk — and a knockout

-

● From the Queen of Talk we pass on to one of Hollywood’s hottest hunks, as I got to mosey up on the red carpet with Michael B Jordan.

This time around the location was Sandton City’s Ster Kinekor movie theatre, where the South African premiere of the Black Panther star’s latest flick, Creed 2, was held.

This is the reboot of the successful Rocky movie series, which sees the 31-year-old actor put through his boxing paces by Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa.

It gave Michael a chance to return to our shores after filming the 2012 American film Chronicle in Cape Town.

“It feels good to be back in Wakanda country,” he told me, mentioning that he’s happy to throw his name into the ring for many more sequels to the Creed franchise.

Though Michael was the drawcard, the night saw him joined by Florian Munteanu, the towering actor who plays Michael’s nemesis in the movie, and the film’s first-time movie director Steven Caple jnr, who was given the nod to helm the film after his mate (and Michael’s longtime collaborator) Ryan Coogler had to bow out.

Local celebs included Connie

Chiume, who you might know plays an elder in Black Panther, and Nomzamo Mbatha, who made an appearance before dashing across the road to the Sandton Convention Centre where the Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards were held that same night.

Nomzamo’s ex, Maps Maponyane, was the night’s MC while we nibbled on a range of rather average cocktail fare.

And as for the movie? If you’re a fan of the Rocky series and the original Creed movie, you’re probably going to think this is a knockout as well.
