Every Christmas I give myself a present that would make me very happy. This is always a gift to someone whose life would be substantially enhanced by the gift. Last year I bought a new delivery motor bike for a great guy who just needed a break. This year I decided to donate funds to the rehabilitation of
The Wilds, a park in Houghton. My friend James Delaney and his team of volunteers have done an amazing job of reclaiming this park for the people of Joburg. I have donated regularly to this cause, but after they recently won two really impressive awards for Citizen Activism, I decided to give them a gift to go towards a few luxuries. Hopefully it will go towards bonuses and Christmas gifts for the City Parks staff and other volunteers, especially Tulane Nkomo, who works there as a volunteer every weekend.
