● Checkers has appointed Charles Ochse chief foods buyer, and Phillip Nhlanhla divisional head buyer.

Ochse joined Checkers in 1990 and in 1999 became head buyer for the Free State division. In 2001, he was appointed head buyer for the Great North division.

Nhlanhla replaces Ochse as head buyer for the Great North division. Nhlanhla, who holds a BCom from Vista University (now the Vaal University of Technology), joined the group in 2005 as trainee manager and held various roles in the supermarke­ts division before joining the food-buying division in 2010.

Nhlanhla was promoted to senior buyer at the beginning of 2018.

Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed Caroline Theodosiou head of its aviation practice, and Pierre Naude has rejoined the firm as a consultant.

In her years with the law firm Theodosiou has acted for the largest aviation company in Africa and for owners and lessors of aircraft, operators, brokers, insurers and reinsurers. She will bring her insurance experience to bear on the litigation aspects of the aviation practice.

Naude establishe­d the firm’s aviation practice during his 42 years with the firm. He will focus on providing technical aviation support on matters, training the members of the team and developing the South African insurance market further.
