Crackdown on secret funds
The joint standing committee on intelligence (JSCI) wants measures to “stop all attempts at stealing or irregularly using funds in the secret accounts” of all the spy agencies, including the SSA’s secret fund, the SAPS crime intelligence slush fund and the defence force’s special defence account. A JSCI report said auditor-general Kimi Makwetu, left, has raised sharp questions about budget allocations to the secret accounts of all three intelligence agencies. It said there was “friction” between the office of the AG and the heads of the agencies
