Watch out for pet insurance products where the insurer asks few questions about your pet’s health when you apply for cover. It could mean that they will demand extensive reports on your pet’s condition every time you claim. This is what is referred to as underwriting at claims stage and leaves you with uncertainty around whether your claim will be paid.

Ask your local vets for references of pet insurers that are good at paying claims without quibbling.
