Brazilian celebs mix with rugga buggas

● Fancy sipping champers on a sparkling beach with two stylish Brazilians and an American bloke with as many Instagram followers as Bonang?

That’s what I did on Thursday night when I cracked an invite to the Guess Fall and Holiday Fashion show.

The do was held at the popular Cape Town spot Grand Africa Café and

Beach in Granger Bay. Arriving at the venue, you couldn’t miss the vintage Mustang decorated with bouquets of red- and gold-painted roses.

I meet one of the first guests, Siv Ngesi, who obliges with a pic in front of those wheels.

Are you wearing the US fashion brand? I ask. Siv shakes his head and says, “No. This is GStar” about his alldenim ensemble.

Right! Someone who is having trouble fitting in his clothes these days is actor Eden Classens, who is there with his beautiful and brainy girlfriend Cato Meaker.

“You could say I’m fat,” says the Suidooster actor, explaining that he’s put on weight for an upcoming storyline on the Afrikaans soapie.

Elsewhere I greet Cindy Nell and her husband, Clive Roberts, who tells me that their makeup brand Essence is the biggest in SA based on units sold. I meet newlyweds Alise and JJ Engelbrecht, the Stormers wing.

Rugby players clearly like fashion, with Springbok Damian Willemse and his brother Ramone Samuels also in the crowd.

You’ll want to know about those international guests. The label flew in Brazilian fashion influencer Giordana Serrano and blonde male model Alessandro Pierozan to attend the show.

They were joined by Kelvin Peña, the American bloke who rivals Bonang in the Instagram stakes (unlike our local TV star this week, his Twitter account wasn’t hacked).

Kelvin became an internet sensation after videos of him handfeeding deer in his back yard went viral.

Before turning up at the fashion show he befriended one of the local Cape Town seals, proving his animal-whisperer gift isn’t confined to four-legged friends.

On to the clothing, and I learn from head of Guess SA Wayne Jones that the US brand has moved on from simply being a jeansand-T-shirts outfit.

Judging by what we saw on the night, I reckon party girls will be well served with a lot more trendier and sexier options.

And what do the stylish eat when not sipping on champers and the ubiquitous gin cocktail?

How about mini-burgers with truffle mayo, chimi chicken skewers, yummy teriyaki-glazed slivers of beef, and tempura prawns with yuzu dressing.
