Let the people decide whether their savings should go up in smoke

The article, “Transform financial services sector” (October 15), refers. Surely before something like this, those contributing to the pension fund should vote on it. After all, it’s their savings that could go up in smoke. — Lynda Jane on BusinessLIVE

I hope this is not a poverty redistribution strategy. According to that, either we are all wealthy or poor (blacks and whites), and nothing in between is acceptable. — Malele Mogoane on BusinessLIVE

The GEPF’s responsibility is to get the best return for its members, not pursue race-based policies that enrich the few. — Art Vandelay on BusinessLIVE

It’s not a black thing or a white thing, Mr Mogajane, it is a money thing. — Andre Styger on Business LIVE

It’s time for new cheese

The column, “The mice are running but the big cheeses stay put” (October 15), refers. I cannot understand why business is helping the ANC. The real strategy should be for it to step back, ignore the more ridiculous diktats dribbling out of an ANC government and let the party demonstrate, in technicolor, why it should be kicked out of government forever. Once the party has fallen, a new government should be formed, consisting half and half of our business sector and a party, chosen on merit. — Andrea Robertson on BusinessLIVE

Beware that sell-by date

The article, “Shoprite unleashes AI for even easier shopping” (October 15), refers. Shoprite/Checkers is the example to follow for all businesses. Incredible use of AI and technology. Don’t get left behind before your “sell-by date”. — Veritas Scriptumon on BusinessLIVE

The irony is I’ve just spent a crazy amount of time replacing items on 60/60 that were out of stock, including basics like oats, garlic bread and roast chicken! Go figure. — Terry Mulke on

Sounds like a solution looking for a problem. — Dominic Rooney on BusinessLIVE

AI? Baloney. Stock control is fundamental to any retail business. The likes of Checkers, Pick n Pay and Woolworths have been doing this for decades. — On the beach on BusinessLIVE

JSE genius? Methinks not

The article, “JSE urges government to list SOEs” (October 15), refers. Just genius! I can see people lining up to buy shares ... Not! — News’s Butt on BusinessLIVE

Stop gaslighting South Africa

The article, “CEF has gas fix for Eskom but ball is in its court” (October 15), refers. And where is the gas going to come from? Inhambane is running out and LNG is expensive. If the green idiots had not blocked fracking and offshore exploration, we might already have supplies, but they clearly don’t care if South Africa collapses.
