The Murder of the Murder of Roger Ackroyd
The Masque Theatre, Muizenberg. November 3-18, different performance times With this adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic 1926 novel, things are not entirely what they seem. The Masque Theatre and Cape Town Theatre Company invite murdermystery fans to come along as the cast attempts to stage a masterpiece. “Attempt being the operative word, for things quickly go awry, to hilarious consequences. While the characters try to answer this complex mystery, the actors are hoping to just get to the end of the play alive!”

2023 Nedbank Golf Challenge
Sun City. November 9-12
It’s that time of the year, when golf aficionados descend on Sun City. Whether they’re among the 66 players pursuing $6m (about R112.5m) or lovers of the game eager to follow the world’s best, the North West resort becomes a hive of golfing activity as it stages a highlight on the local sporting calendar. This year’s tournament forms part of the DP World Tour Championship, which culminates in crowning the Race to Dubai winner in Dubai later this month.

Drumstruck

Since starting in 2002, the international drum-theatre production and wine-tasting experience has been entertaining audiences in Europe, Australia and New York, where celebrity attendees have included Nicole Kidman and Kevin Bacon. After its summer run in Cape Town last year, Drumstruck is back for a second season at Silvermist, with wine tastings presented by winemaker Gregory Brink Louw. As producer Warren Lieberman explains, the show blends traditional African instruments with song and dance to create a unique musical experience.

The Stellenbosch City Orchestra Presents A Christmas Festival
Lourensford Wine Cellar, Somerset West. November 10-11, 7:30pm With Christmas soon upon us, the Stellenbosch City Orchestra invites you to indulge in the season’s magic. Conducted by Paul van Zuilenburg and featuring musicians Janelle Visagie, Andre Terblanche, Devonecia Swart and Corneil Muller, the repertoire spans centuries of Christmas tradition, from Bach to the Mannheim Steamroller and traditional hymns.

Michelangelo Wine-tasting Experience

November 10, 5-9pm; November 11, 4-8pm Following September’s 27th Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards, Southern Sun, hospitality partner to the awards, is hosting a two-day wine-tasting experience to showcase this year’s winners. Taste the wines and meet the winemakers who produced them.

Jozi Book Fair

Remake the world!, the Jozi Book Fair is back for its 15th year to highlight the importance of literacy regarding democracy, human rights and discerning citizenship in South Africa. Having fostered readers and writers throughout the year, the festival is a culmination of this work and provides a platform for authors, publishers, artists and academics to showcase their offerings and celebrate reading. A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Following its run at the Toyota SU Woordfees in Stellenbosch last month, Maynardville Open Air Festival’s interpretation of Shakespeare’s comedy is coming to Pieter Toerien’s stage for the first time, ready to “transport audiences into the captivating world of Athenian forests, where romance, mischief and the whimsical realm of fairies collide in a tapestry of comedy and romance”.
