● Access Bank South Africa has appointed Sandile Shabalala as its new CEO.
Shabalala, who has more than 30 years of experience in the banking sector, joins Access after serving as CEO for business and commercial banking at Sasfin Bank, where he led the establishment and development of the business banking division. He has also been CEO of TymeBank.
He has a BAdmin from the University of Durban-Westville and a master’s in business leadership from Unisa.
Shabalala said: “I am honoured to join Access Bank, a leading financial institution with a long-standing reputation of excellence. I look forward to working with a talented team to strengthen our position as an organisation that drives economic growth and financial inclusion in Africa.”
● Afrika Tikkun, the social welfare organisation, has appointed Onyi Nwaneri as group CEO.
She succeeds former group CEO Marc Lubner, who will now serve as the executive deputy chair.
Afrika Tikkun said that with Nwaneri at the helm and Lubner in his new role the organisation was well positioned to continue its mission of transforming lives and building a brighter future for the youth of South Africa.
Lubner has been group CEO for the past 18 years; in his new role he will focus on strategic initiatives, forging new partnerships and guiding the organisation.
Nwaneri has been with Afrika Tikkun for more than 14 years.
● Pernod Ricard Africa has appointed Sola Oke as MD for Africa.
He has been with the Pernod Ricard family for more than 10 years, having joined as marketing director in Nigeria in 2014.
He has occupied various roles, most recently as MD for Pernod Ricard Nigeria and Western Africa.
He has a master’s degree from the University of Manchester and an MBA from Cardiff University.
Pernod Ricard said that Oke’s leadership would bolster the company’s commitment to portfolio prioritisation, prestige acceleration and pricing power, driving sustainable growth while embedding brands in popular culture and embracing digital transformation.
