Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off — Showmax
Sam Jones’ award-winning documentary examines the life of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk. Now in his 50s, he continues to push the boundaries of skating as he did when he first picked a board up on the streets of San Diego in the 1980s.
Casino — Showmax
Martin Scorsese’s epic 1970s gangster drama about the Las Vegas underworld was perhaps unfairly dismissed by critics on its release. Almost three decades later, it holds up as a lushly realised tale of the excesses of what appeared as an idyllic moment in mafia history. It’s underpinned by three stellar performances from Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone.
Baby Reindeer — Netflix
Writer and actor Richard Gadd stars in this black comedy about his experiences as the victim of the unwelcome attentions of a very creepy stalker (Jessica Gunning) in a show that shifts tone from off-kilter humour to hard-to-watch trauma as his increasingly uncomfortable relationship with his unwanted admirer forces him to confront dark secrets from his past.
Feud: Capote vs The Swans — Disney Plus
Ryan Murphy returns to his anthology series about celebrity feuds with this second season that examines American writer Truman Capote’s spectacular fallout with a group of 1960s New York socialite wives whose secrets he spilt for an Esquire magazine exposé. The show stars Tom Hollander and a heavy-hitting cast that includes Demi Moore, Calista Flockhart, Diane Lane and Judy Davis. Fallout — Prime Video Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner’s adaptation of the fan favourite video game offers plenty of imaginative design and black-humoured dark treatment in its realisation of a dystopian future LA after a devastating nuclear explosion. The city is now a wasteland where people live underground to protect themselves from radiation, mutants and ruthless bandits.
