Former All Black accused of sexual assault
FORMER New Zealand rugby star Mils Muliaina has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, his club Connacht confirmed on Saturday.
The 34-year-old full-back, who won 100 caps for the All Blacks over a nine-year period, is suspected of involvement in an incident in Cardiff last month.
He was pictured on television being led away by police officers following his Irish club’s 14-7 loss at Gloucester in the European Challenge Cup quarterfinal on Friday.
“Connacht Rugby can confirm that player Mils Muliaina is currently assisting the South Wales Police with enquiries relating to an alleged incident in Cardiff in March of this year,” said a statement from Connacht.
A spokesman from Gloucestershire Police confirmed that a man in his 30s had been arrested at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium “on suspicion of sexual assault in relation to an incident in Cardiff in March”.
He added: “The man has been handed over to the South Wales Police, who are investigating the incident.”— AFP
