THE Department of Education, Arts and Science has agreed to investigate complaints about some sleep learning colleges and “cram” schools.
There is concern, particularly over claims by some colleges that they are using “new revolutionary concepts of learning”.
In Cape Town this week I interviewed the managing director of a college, Mr. Gerald A. Ernstzen, whose college installs in the student’s home tape recorders, time clocks and head phones. Pupils are then given special tape recordings of lectures which are read to them while they sleep. — February 26 1967
