It certainly worked for this crime thriller series which, while not quite Southern Gothic, is quite bleak and nasty. It follows the story of Mac Conway (Logan Marshall-Green, pictured), a US marine who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam to find himself reviled by the public and unable to find a job.
