When We Rise

It’s another good week for the Saturday slot. In this case, the pick was standing on a soapbox with a bullhorn, screaming for my attention — which is quite appropriate given the subject matter. It’s an upcoming, three-part historical drama miniseries that we’ll get a few days after its premiere in the US on February 27. It’s all about the founding of the LGBT movement, starting with its violent origins in the late 1960s up to the more formal, organised movement it is today. Many well-known activists are portrayed, although the show does seem to focus on HIV/Aids and LGBT activist Cleve Jones (played by Guy Pearce, pictured).
