Who the Guptas wanted

-

FOR Prasa chairman, the Gupta family wanted Mzwanele Manyi to replace Sfiso Buthelezi, the current deputy minister of finance, the leaked Gupta e-mails show.

Other proposed appointments to the Prasa board included longtime family associate Iqbal Sharma; the daughter of ANC national executive committee member Brigitte Mabandla, Nonkululeko; as well as an Indian known as Ashok Pavadia.

For the board of Acsa, the Guptas wanted former Denel Aviation CEO John Lamola as chairman, as well as Bajabulile Luthuli, Chwayita Mabude, Advocate Kenosi Moroka, and an acting judge, Gurwantrai Bhikha.

Lamola, Luthuli, Moroka and Mabude were appointed to the board in December 2012 and were all, except Lamola, removed from the board in February this year by Dipuo Peters, the transport minister at the time.

For Sanral, the family wanted Jackie Mphafudi appointed chairman. The names of former Oakbay Investments director Mark Pamensky, family friend and business partner Salim Essa, as well as Sibongiseni Ngoma, chief financial officer in the office of the auditor-general, and Romeo Kumalo also appear. Pamensky and Kumalo were later appointed to the Eskom board. Also proposed was Hantsi Mayeza, about whom there is little information.
