Attempts will continue this week to end the 10111 call-centre strike, after the SAPS was granted an interdict to stop striking workers from harassing non-striking staff or damaging property. The police said workers on strike at the Midrand call centre had been threatening other employees. The strike began last month, and now uniformed officers have been called in to staff the call centre. The South African Policing Union wants salaries raised to R50 000 a year. Staff are employed under the Public Service Act and are not considered an essential service.
