A DURBAN-BORN doctor has swopped her white medical coat for designer clothes and makeup to get in front of the camera as part of a digital campaign.

Dr Langa Mngoma, 25, is among six women who are spearheading the international cosmetic brand Estee Lauder’s digital campaign in SA.

Mngoma is the younger sister of Durban-born musician and actress, Nandi Madida.

The cosmetic brand chose career women with busy lifestyles to be part of their digital campaign that promotes their new moisturising product called daywear matte, which keeps women’s skin radiant and fresh despite working long hours.

The other women who are part of the campaign are Vika Shipalana (brand director), Palesa Kgasane (content creator), Wendy Ntinezo (entrepreneur), Anel C Botha (designer) and Sumaiya De’mar (lawyer).

The Durban North doctor recently moved to Johannesburg, where she is currently doing her community service at one of the hospitals .

In the advertisement, Langa is seen exploring Johannesburg, which is a new environment to her, and seen performing her duties as a doctor in other scenes.

Speaking to the Sunday Dr Langa Mngoma, 25, is among six women who are spearheading the international cosmetic brand Estee Lauder’s digital campaign in SA. Tribune this week, Langa said she was honoured and excited to be part of the campaign.

“They wanted to illustrate our lives and how we keep our skin looking fresh by using the daywear matte moisturiser. The 10 to 5 production company captured genuine elements of our lives, it’s a real depiction of who we are.

“I am a medical officer in a paediatric surgical ward at the moment, we start work very early at 6.30am and finish at 4pm, however when I am on call I work for 24 to 30 hours and it is exhausting. Previously you could tell by looking at my oily face” she said.

Although her focus is on her professional career as a doctor, she has ambitions of exploring her creative side one day like her older sister, having followed in their father’s medical footsteps to become a doctor.

“My father had an influence in me becoming a doctor but he never forced me into it. My passion for the medical field developed through him.

“I am very close to my sister, Nandi, we are best friends and have a great relationship. She advises me in many things and I am encouraged and inspired by her,” she said.

Langa said her work had been rewarding so far.

“You know working in a government hospital is demanding but I am learning a lot. I get to work with people and have that intimate moment at their most vulnerable moment. It’s been good and there are sad moments as well,” she said.
