Runners ripped off over parking mess

Old Transvaal College of Education reunion

-

I WENT to Kings Park for the Durban City Marathon. Before the race, we were told to park near the swimming pool.

Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (NMR) was gridlocked for an hour with no traffic police. When we got to the pool parking, it was full. Metro police were blocking the road, so we could not get to Suncoast. Opposite the pool they opened a field. The shock was R50 for parking and if you did not pay, your wheels were clamped. I was given a receipt for Moses Mabhida undercover parking (receipt no 22216). How did they get this receipt book? I was not parking undercover. I feel so sorry for those who came to Durban for the race and were ripped off. SHEILA COLEMAN

Northdene GRADUATES of the old Transvaal College of Education will hold a reunion on April 28 from 5pm at the Hot Shots Nightclub, 11 Arbee Drive, Tongaat.

The college in Fordsburg was administered by the old House of Delegates. In 1954, it shared premises with the Johannesburg Indian High School in Bree Street, opposite the Oriental Plaza.

In December 1982, the first diploma ceremony was held in the new college hall, where 81 primary school teachers qualified.

The new college then began to offer a diploma in junior secondary teaching, as well as an opportunity for teachers to upgrade their qualifications.

The college eventually closed in 1998 and became a community college. A reunion is always special. It affords all friends the opportunity to share moments of nostalgia, as well as an opportunity to reflect, and for the majority to celebrate their journey.

Many of the graduates have remained in education and continue to serve the profession with distinction. Many have also assumed leadership roles and continue to strive for excellence in their schools. Some have retired or changed career paths.

Many students met their life partners at college and set up their homes in the then Transvaal, now Gauteng. Can you imagine the atmosphere, vibrancy, joy and excitement when this group descends on Durban. Be there.

If you want to attend, call 082 896 6803 or 083 324 5185. ALLAN PILLAY
