Marriage is mutual love and respect

-

SHRESHTHA Govender and Camiel Baijnath, both banking professionals living in Joburg, married on April 16 at the Durban Jewish Club. HOW WE MET

We’d known each other from UCT more than 10 years ago, but the relationship only began late in 2014 after a thunee game at Shreshtha’s sister’s place. PROPOSAL AND MARRIAGE

We planned a weekend away in Knysna in November 2015. Camiel planned a picnic on the private Noetzie beach at the castle. During a stroll on the beach a photographer asked for a pose and when I turned I found Camiel on one knee.

Shortly after the engagement we began planning the wedding. With our families from Durban and Stanger, the Durban Jewish Club provided the perfect setting for 320 guests. WEDDING BLACK BOOK Leela’s, Lenasia New Savera, Durban

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Planning the wedding from Joburg while both of us were maintaining a hectic work schedule. It would not have been possible without the support from family and friends in Durban. VIEWS ON LOVE AND MARRIAGE

Marriage is not a fairytale and will have its ups and downs. A mutual love and respect for each other and complementing one another’s strengths and weaknesses will make a marriage grow stronger and help you overcome any obstacles that arise.

The actual wedding day passes by very quickly, so our advice to those couples getting married is to take a breath, have fun and enjoy the moment.
