China rakes in prizes at World Travel Awards

THE Twenty-fourth instalment of the World Travel Awards Asia and Australasi­a took place in Shanghai, China this year. The official gala ceremony was held in China’s economic capital, at the Grand Kempinski Hotel last weekend. The gala ceremony also showcased some of China’s finest traditions, including Kirin – a celebratio­n, through song, of the mythical animals of Kylin who promote peace and prosperity.

Prior to the ceremony, media and guests were treated to a tour of the city’s famous attraction­s, which included Yu Garden, the Old City Town, Jade Buddha Temple and Tian Zi Fang area.
